Screen Printing Project
This project goal was to print 100 postcards using a 4 color process on a Grafica Nano print.
Part 1: Creating a Proof
The project began by producing a CMYK proof made from four separate film positives; one for each process color. These films were stacked to visually simulate how the final print would reproduce tonal transitions, shadows, and color balance. This step was essential for verifying image separations before burning the screens and running the press.
Part 2: printing the cards
each color was printed one layer at a time on the Grafica Nano press. Starting with cyan, then adding yellow, magenta, and finally black, each pass required precise registration to maintain alignment and avoid color shifts. This stage demonstrated the cumulative nature of process color printing and how each layer contributes to the final image.
Part 3: Collect Data
The last step was to collect the dot gain data to put into the final report.
